bio

lena hannigan (b. 2001, China) is a British Chinese is an emerging artist and facilitator. Using her body as a tool alongside technology and sound, hannigan’s practice reflects upon liveness, identity and displacement, whilst confronting viewers with their positionality when witnessing performance. She uses forms of deep listening, somatics and contact improvisation as methods to experience a return to the body whilst tapping into individual and collective rhythms.

As a facilitator, hannigan actively champions anti-racist and non-hierarchical methods in art education. Her work focuses on challenging Euro-centric knowledge systems and centring marginalised perspectives to reform and innovate the future of education.
